Provincetown

Provincetown has no designated Natural Resource Nitrogen Sensitive Area. It is the only one of the fifteen Barnstable County towns that does not appear in MassDEP's watershed application table, and it is largely served by municipal sewer.

Provincetown has no designated Natural Resource Nitrogen Sensitive Area, so the 2023 Title 5 nitrogen amendments do not reach property in the town. A seller would tick box 4.

The requirement that applies either way

A passing Title 5 inspection is required before you transfer title anywhere in Massachusetts, and it is valid for two years — three if you have documented annual pumping. That is independent of anything on this page.

Your septic records

Provincetown Board of Health holds septic records for properties not connected to sewer. If you are trying to establish that nitrogen-reducing technology was already installed — box 3 on the disclosure form — that installation date is what you need, and the Board of Health file is where it lives.
